Various music styles benefit concerts to end homelessness in Dublin

HOMELESSNESS IN DUBLIN

I attended the ‘Home Sweet Home’ Benefit concerts on Friday 20th January 2017 at Sin é pub, Dublin 1 (Ireland) to raise funds for homeless people in Ireland.

Apart from contributing to a wonderful cause, I enjoyed discovering new bands and singer-songwriters!🤓

BENEFIT CONCERTS’ ORGANISATION

The event is organised for 2 nights: Friday 20th and Saturday 21st January 2017 and has a different line-up constituting 4 bands and/or singers-songwriters for each night. So, if you haven’t been to the first session, it’s still time to catch up the second one!✌😉

You will find the Eventbrite online ticket link directly in the event’s description or you may pay at the door!

LIVE CONCERTS’ VIDEOS

Now, here is the moment you’ve all been waiting for,🎊 the live videos I took at the event!👏💝🎉

Apologises for the format, I should have filmed in landscape mode! Also, I haven’t filmed the last folk band ‘The Eskies’ as I ran out of battery. I’m sorry for this inconvenience.

You will find the Facebook fan page link for each band/singer in the description under each YouTube video. To view the description, click on the YouTube title to open the video in a new tab.

Enjoy! Tell us what’s your favourite act amongst them and why! If you have filmed them, too, feel free to share the link in the ‘comment’ box!

Prince Tribute: Sign o’the Times live concert and DJ set

I hope you have celebrated well new year’s eve!🍾🎉 I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2017!😘🍀🌟🎊

PRINCE TRIBUTE

For my part, I decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve a little bit in advance!😂 I went to this tribute to Prince with DJ Al Murphy playing lots of Prince’s tunes and then watched the live recording of his 1987 Sign o’ the Times tour on Friday 30th December 2016 at The Sugar Club, Dublin (Ireland).

You can find more information about it on this  event page:

PRINCE TRIBUTE LIVE RECORDINGS

Here are recordings in picture and audio of the DJ’s act.

Prince Tribute

Now, I’d like to share with you some videos taken at the event. I would like to apologise if the last video’s soundtrack isn’t from Prince! I experienced few technical issues trying to publish a live YouTube video and it ended up recording the visuals without the sound!🤔😤  So I picked a nice song in a similar style to add to the video.🙂😉 Anyway, I hope you will enjoy them!

MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS

The charity event in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) took place on Friday 23rd December 2016 at the beautiful and cosy in Dublin (Ireland).🔥 There was a fun and warm filled atmosphere to it and the live concerts were very good!

MUSIC LIVE RECORDINGS

The music was varied. It started off with what I would call ‘ambient music’ with Daniel McDermott playing at the keyboard and using other pre-recorded instrumental pieces.

It continued on with a brand new Irish hip-hop duet called ‘God Creative and Crimes Against’ and finished off with a folk and pop music band led by Conor O’Mally.

Entry tickets and Conor O’Meally music CDs purchased by the audience went into the fundraising initiative for the charitable organisation.

Now, I’m sure you are dying to watch the Youtube videos, right 😜😉?! Here you go!

History of Brazilian Baile Funk music and dance styles

Baile Funk MUSIC

Baile Funk is a big mix of different music styles. To have a better understanding of this music and dance style, I’d like you to have a read of this comprehensive Wikipedia article on the topic:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funk_carioca

Want to hear how it sounds or how people dance on it? Go no further, I’m going to share with you few music playlists and dance videos.

First of all, there’s a great mixtape playlist you need to subscribe to and this is the following one from Rio:

I will share with you a couple of dance choreography I have found. However, please note that they aren’t actual tutorials. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any real dance tutorials.😞

Finally, you might want to read another blog on how this music and dance style became exported:

Do you have any Baile Funk dance choreography you’d like to teach us? If so, share them with us in the comment section!

Black and white expatriate networking party (Paris, 2016)

expatriate networking IN PARIS

While I was spending a holiday trip in Paris (France) in April 2016, I thought I might go to an expatriate networking party. I wanted to meet international people living in the city and have some fun with them!

I had found a black and white expatriate networking party in Paris advertised on the meetup.com website (Expats Paris) taking place at ‘rue du Colisée’  close to Champs-Elysées and Franklin D. Roosevelt metro station. I was curious to see what it’d be like.

There were around 60 people from different nationalities attending the event, meeting either to build communities or to improve their language skills.

I was greeted by meetup members and organisers. Then I was introduced to Michael, who I had asked few questions online before coming to the event. He was friendly and introduced me to few guests.

Then, we spent a bit of time chatting around on the ground floor before hitting the dancefloor. Music was an eclectic mix of Latin, Arabic, pop and hip-hop music.

I hope you will enjoy the below video and mixed tapes!
