Honore’ – unsigned U.S Pop/Rnb singer-songwriter’s single release ‘#3LW’

Honore

As usual, I’m having fun discovering new artists and I came across Honore‘s music on Instagram. Honore’ is currently releasing a new single called #3LW, as well as looking for collaborations to advance his music career further.

About Honore’

Honore (pronounced honour-ray) is a Pop/R&B singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California.🌹

Hailing from ethnic descents of Creole (African American & French), and Filipino, Honore’ reflects the same diversity in his universal style.

Honore has performed throughout the US and Asia.

His favourite performing credits include opening for the Pussycat Dolls at The Araneta Coliseum Manila.

He has also sung with many artists such as:

  • Harvey Mason and Friends,
  • Howard Hewitt,
  • Denise Williams.

He has notably done a duet with Patrice Rushen for the opening for Vina Morales/Eric Santos at the San Diego Symphony Hall.

Honore is a singer who puts on a great show. Whether he’s performing on stage solo or live with his band or moving fans with dance choreography, or writing and producing songs, his originality and professionalism completely separate him from other artists. 💣

Honore’s influences are Prince, Miguel, Bruno Mars, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake.

He stated: “I want to speak to the world through my music, spread love and inspire minds.”

ABOUT HIS NEW RELEASE SINGLE #3LW

Honoré’s latest single, #3LW is a statement that true love never dies.

#3LW Rn’b single written in collaboration with Jasmine Ejan was recorded in the studio by superstar producer Mike Cee. You can download the song on Itunes for only $0.99!

💰 Honoré’s RnB single #3Lw 🙏

Never underestimate the power of #3LW: 3 Little Words: I Love You.

Honoré gives a respectful nod to classic 90’s R&B music. It was a time when songs had a deeper meaning. True love was at the centre of every harmony and lyric.

The official music video released on 4th July 2017,  directed by Bobby Torres has an amazing storyline.

It displays the ultimate sacrifice of love and all the ups and downs of being in a relationship.  It will move your heart. You will find yourself singing every line until you reach the emotional twist at the end. Check it out!

#3LW features the talents of Jasmine Ejan and Gino Calantoni.

OTHER PROJECTS

Honoré continues to stay relevant and popular among his thousands of fans and followers by working harder than ever between performing and recording.

He’s currently recording his much-anticipated, third solo album “SuperFantastik” with superstar producers Mike Cee, Elev8t, and RJ Fullrange.

Honore’ also released last year a single called ‘Good Times’, which you can download at this Itunes link:

I hope you have celebrated well new year’s eve!🍾🎉 I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2017!😘🍀🌟🎊

PRINCE TRIBUTE

For my part, I decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve a little bit in advance!😂 I went to this tribute to Prince with DJ Al Murphy playing lots of Prince’s tunes and then watched the live recording of his 1987 Sign o’ the Times tour on Friday 30th December 2016 at The Sugar Club, Dublin (Ireland).

You can find more information about it on this  event page:

PRINCE TRIBUTE LIVE RECORDINGS

Here are recordings in picture and audio of the DJ’s act.

Prince Tribute

Now, I’d like to share with you some videos taken at the event. I would like to apologise if the last video’s soundtrack isn’t from Prince! I experienced few technical issues trying to publish a live YouTube video and it ended up recording the visuals without the sound!🤔😤  So I picked a nice song in a similar style to add to the video.🙂😉 Anyway, I hope you will enjoy them!

Sankofa Soul TV Contest – Live Semi-final 2 (Paris 2016)

Sankofa Soul TV Contest

I had booked my tickets for the Sankofa Soul TV Contest in advance. I had initially found the event advertised on Facebook.

TICKET OPTIONS

There were offering two options:

  1. dinner + live performances (25  Euros)
  2. live performances alone (pre-sale for 10 Euros and at the door for 12 Euros).

I took the first option and didn’t regret it. The ‘Petite Halle’ concert room was full and I would have otherwise kept standing for 4 hours!

SANKOFA SOUL TV CONTEST FINALS

For those who would like to watch the soul singers’ final (10 singers selected from the two previous semi-finals), it will take place on Saturday 18th June at 8.30pm in the ‘New Morning’ concert place, 7 rue des petites écuries, 75010 Paris, France.

There is no dinner option for the final but there are seats, so come early and pre-buy your ticket if you want to sit! Tickets on pre-sale are for 14 Euro.

Saun and Starr live concert with Jesse John Heffernan band

Saun and Starr

It was such an honour to listen to the amazing voices of Saun and Starr with such a great accompaniment band!

I didn’t initially know these female singers. However, I was greatly impressed by their performance at Sugar Club, Dublin (Ireland) on Saturday 24th October 2015!

THEIR BIOGRAPHY

Saundra Williams and Starr Duncan Lowe grew up mere blocks from each other in New York City’s northernmost borough, The Bronx.

But it wasn’t until 1986 that the two actually crossed paths at an open mic night at a club called Carl’s Off the Corner in Harlem. With a mutual respect for each other’s talent as singers along with a shared musical aesthetic, the two became fast friends.

In 2013, cover songs soon gave way to original compositions with the duo now named Saun & Starr. Before long, S&S and The Dap-Kings set up shop at Daptone Records’ House of Soul music. They began recording an album of their own material.

Follow their Facebook fan page if you like their music!

If you have missed this concert, you can check their next touring dates on this site:

JESSE JOHN HEFFERMAN

Jesse John Heffernan Is a Soul Afro-Caribbean/Irish-born singer-songwriter, whose unique and uncompromising sound is set to make its mark!

He is inspired by legends such as Sam Cooke, Van Morrison and Marvin Gaye to name a few.

Jesse’s love of lyrics and songwriting delivered through his soulful vocals, means his performances are second to none.

He has recently become a part of the Choice Cuts team in Dublin venue The Sugar Club, as a promoter and venue booker.

You can follow him and his band on Facebook.

Street School Dance Battles organised by Vigozone in Hamburg (2015)

STREET SCHOOL DANCE

While planning a holiday trip in Hamburg (Germany), I researched any interesting hip-hop dance events in the city.

I came across the street school dance battles event. I received a free ticket for the dance live performances.

The street school dancers were teenagers of different ages with one common goal: giving the best performance they could to the audience.

And what a show! I felt the dance level was pretty high! I watched incredible crew choreography and battles from all styles, such as:

  • new style hip-hop,
  • locking,
  • popping,
  • b-boying
  • k-pop,
  • dancehall,
  • afrobeat
  • salsa.

STREET SCHOOL DANCE EVENT STAKEHOLDERS

The host himself was pretty good at dancing. He was also very entertaining. 🎉

One of the judges and his dance partner performed their duet choreography.

If you’d like to know more about the stakeholders at this event, check their Facebook event page.

Now, impatient to see what it looked like? Please find below a small slide show.

I filmed:

  • 4 battles,
  • 5 crew/duet choreography
  • 2 dance demonstrations from the presenter.

To watch them, I invite you to subscribe to my YouTube Channel!

If you encounter country restriction issues (blocked videos), I recommend you to download ‘youtube unblocker’ for Firefox and Google Chrome.

Jafaris and Hare Squead – bands’ live concerts (February 2015)

JAFARIS AND HARE SQUEAD

First of all, with a bit of luck on my side, I won a pair of tickets to go and listen to new Irish bands called Jafaris and Hare Squead at The Sugar Club, Dublin 2 (Ireland) on Wednesday 11th February 2015.

However, I had absolutely no expectations whatsoever as I didn’t know these bands. I only thought their music styles would probably be either hip-hop or soul.

But I truly enjoyed their live performances and wanted to share them with you! They also play/sing a good variety of music styles!

ABOUT JAFARIS

Jafaris and Hare Squead

Based in Dublin the singer/rapper/songwriter/actor has only been doing music for about 3 years now with a healthy list of achievements to show. He now works with Diffusion Lab he is currently recording new music.

To follow him, check his Facebook fan page.

ABOUT HARE SQUEAD

Jafaris and Hare Squead

Jessy Rose, Tony Konstone and Lilo Blues, members of the Hare Squead band, are a local group from Dublin (Ireland) about to go global.

Furthermore, Hare Squead are pioneers of a creative contemporary fusion of:

  • trap
  • rap
  • R&B
  • pop
  • jazz
  • and electronics;

Their song Zoo of the New is inspired by a Sylvia Plath poem, while Christian music is a big influence on their chords and harmonies.

In 2014, they supported Nas and Joey Bada$$ with their six-piece band.

Appearing at a lot of indie festivals ensured they weren’t restricted to rap events and got them signed to Columbia.

Since then, their fanbase has changed from mostly men to “85%” women, perhaps due to 2016’s breakout hit Herside Story, a sugary, soulful love song that turned them into teen heartthrobs.

To know more about Hare Square, like their Facebook fan page and visit their website.

LIVE CONCERT RECORDING AND SOUNDTRACK

Finally, it’s time to enjoy their live performances!

Beautiful Gate charity from South Africa- DJ Dale and Ras Rob’s fundraising gig

BEAUTIFUL GATE CHARITY

This is an event I have organised a few years ago to raise funds for the very actively involved Beautiful Gate charity from South Africa. This Non-Profit Organisation is doing great things for vulnerable children and families as well as children orphans.

Beautiful Gate charity

The gig and Dj set

First of all, the fundraising music gig took place in Dublin at the Q Bar (now River Bar), Burgh Quay on Thursday 16th September 2010.

It showcased Ras Rob and Dale Turner deejaying skills.

The night was very successful with more than 80 attendants partying!

DJ MUSIC VIDEO AND SOUNDTRACKS

Secondly, to listen to Ras Rob and Dale Tuner’s tracks, check out the below soundcloud mixes and video:

FUNDRAISING RESULTS

As far as the gig is concerned, it has also been a success in terms of money raised for the charity Beautiful Gate South Africa.

Indeed, we have been able to send 360 Euros via online banking to finance a week-long holiday club for 200 primary school children to do fun and educational activities run by teen groups who develop planning and leadership skills!

CHARITY CONDiTIONS

Furthermore, the staff from Beautiful Gate South Africa really appreciated your donations.

To prove this, they have sent us a little report with pictures and a video, which you can see below:

“The children in Crossroads have always been fanatical soccer players. With the recent World Cup, the enthusiasm has got even higher than usual.

Many of the junior (under 13) teams are run by older teenagers, who meet and train by the side of the road in drainage areas – even the local schools don’t have a grass playing area.

Although the soil is naturally sandy, they dodge broken glass, old rusty metal faeces and stones, often playing in bare feet. The older boys who are the team coach/manager have had no coaching. ‘Training’ is often an impressive word for a kick-about.’

BEAUTIFUL GATE CHARITY ACTIONS

Consequently, Beautiful Gate has invested in a grass sports field that is safe and clean. It is used by local groups and schools for soccer, netball, and athletics. We work with the teenage soccer coaches to:

  • help them learn about coaching
  • become good role models for the younger boys.

This week, there is a Soccer Holiday Club – 16 teams of up to 20 boys (under 13) on our field. They arrive by 10 am every day to join in a session about life skills before playing their matches. The life skills sessions cover topics such as respect, responsibility, and hygiene. We also link the topics with practical examples of behaviour on the pitch, as well as opportunities to act as linesmen during the matches.

Soccer is taken very seriously – not only pride is at stake! Many of the Bafana Bafana players have come from communities like Crossroads.

They have also been able to escape poverty through their footballing talent. Few have the talent and luck to make a career out of football. But our hope is that all the boys will be able to build a better future for themselves, through the life skills they learn and through improved strength from physical exercise.

 Best Wishes,

Andrea Harper

Organisation Support and Community Development Manager’.

Africa Day Festival 2014 (Dublin) & after-festival party at Voodoo Lounge

This is going to be a nice souvenir from the Africa Day event, which took place on Sunday 25th May 2014 at Farmleigh Estate, Phoenix Park, Dublin and its after-party at Voodoo Lounge, 39-40 Arran Quay, Dublin 7. If you didn’t attend, you now have the chance to catch up with them.

In fairness with you, due to the rainy weather conditions, I have filmed a lot more the after-party indoor event than the outdoor festival. Nonetheless, you can still check their website www.africaday.ie to see what kind of entertainment and exhibitions were there.

You will find below few pictures I took at the festival and a map showing you all the different activities as well as the line-up schedule.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Now, please enjoy the only video I took at the outdoor festival event from Benzor hip hop singer in collaboration with No Long Tingz Music Group, at Atilogwu stage:

As for the after-party, I filmed DJs Marv and Spaqz playing various tunes ranging from rn’b, old and new school hip hop, soca, reggae, afrobeat, etc…There are four videos that you can find on my Youtube Channel here:

https://www.youtube.com/user/emelinej1/videos

Finally, please share with us any pictures, videos, or impressions of these events! Did you enjoy them? What was the best act(s) in your opinion?

Kwaito (South African House): its music evolution, exportation and the dance

For those of you who never heard of Kwaito music, I let you catch up on this by reading my previous article at the following link:

http://wp.me/pXgap-fR

To understand the origin of Kwaito, please check this article out:

http://africanmusicdance.wikia.com/wiki/Kwaito

Today, I will introduce you to the Kwaito music industry through a very good documentary filmed by Eric Sell a.k.a EES (also: eesy-ees/EeS/EeS, “Easy Eric Sell”) a Namibian German Kwaito artist and rapper. He travels between South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Germany to demonstrate the music evolution and its exportation. Any of his German explanations will be subtitled in English, but most part of this reportage is in English. Now, enough talking from me, check out the youtube film below:

Since you know now more about what Kwaito music is, you may want to see how the Kwaito dance looks like and try out few basic steps. The two first video below will showcase a TV dance show and a dance performance and the last one is a dance tutorial from EES (Eric Sell). What are your thoughts in this music and dance style? Do you think it has potential to become a worldwide phenomenon?

To listen to and watch Kwaito music mix and dance, check out this link full of videos:
